More About Sunita Shekhawat

Heritage, heirlooms, and handcrafted artistry form the core of Sunita Shekhawat’s ethos. Rooted in the vibrant traditions of Jaipur, the brand is renowned for creating timeless modern heirlooms that seamlessly blend tradition with innovation. Inaugurated by the iconic Rajmata Gayatri Devi of Jaipur, Sunita Shekhawat has become synonymous with Modern Meenakari (enamelling) and exquisite coloured gemstone jewellery, with flagship stores in New Delhi and Jaipur and a growing international presence.

The art of enamelling, celebrated for its craftsmanship and rich history, stands at the heart of the brand’s identity. Each piece is treated as an artefact, embodying a delicate balance between preserving tradition and embracing modernity. The challenge—and strength—of the brand lies in maintaining this equilibrium, ensuring authenticity while pushing the craft’s boundaries.

Sunita Shekhawat has revolutionised enamelling, introducing an expansive palette of colours and pioneering innovation in design. This dedication to craftsmanship and creativity is immortalised in the Museum of Meenakari Heritage (MOMH) in Jaipur, India’s first museum dedicated to the art of enamelling.

Beyond enamelling, the brand is celebrated for its high-coloured gemstone jewellery, which is distinguished by bold colour combinations and intricate designs. Over three decades, Sunita Shekhawat has emerged as a visionary artist, redefining fine jewellery and continuing to elevate the legacy of Jaipur’s jewellery traditions for a global audience.

Midas Signature Jewellery is Born

Sunita Shekhawat and Dileep Singh launched Midas Signature Jewellery informally from their home in Jaipur. With no family background in the jewellery trade, Sunita began with small sales and restoration work, learning meenakari enamelling and traditional stone-setting techniques directly from the city's master artisans. Each repair and each commission became a study in the craft traditions of Rajasthan. The work was quiet, personal, and rooted in an intimate relationship between designer and artisan that continues to define the house today.

Boutique Inaugurated by Maharani Gayatri Devi

The home was converted into a boutique, and Midas Signature Jewellery was formally inaugurated by Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur, one of the most celebrated women of her era. Her presence connected the young house to Rajasthan's royal heritage from its very first day. Word of mouth among close friends and collectors drove the early clientele. Every visitor was received personally by Sunita. The "Jewellery by Appointment" philosophy that defines the house today began not as a concept, but as a natural way of working.
