Sunita Shekhawat

Founder

Born in the ancient town of Osian, near Jodhpur, the refinement of her aesthetic sensibility started at an early age. A childhood spent moving across the country aided her explorations of colour and form, which form the foundation of the label today. Moving to Jaipur, the bustling epicentre of coloured stones and fine jewelry, set in motion the journey towards building the House of Sunita Shekhawat.

With unparalleled knowledge about gemstones, technique, colour and material, few understand the nuances of jewelry making quite like Sunita Shekhawat.

Preserving Jaipur Craft with Modern Vision

Shekhawat immersed herself in the study of gems at Gem & Jewelry Export Promotion Council, which, paired with her innate appreciation of jewels, further strengthened her vision to preserve the craft and create something equally beautiful and meaningful.

A firm believer in tempering creativity with expertise, the jeweller put the study of technique, material and colour first, which only buttressed the design which is so distinctive to the label. With Jaipur art and design at the heart of every Sunita Shekhawat creation, the designer has, over the decades, assumed the role of a torchbearer of Jaipuri culture in a modern context. Her practical mindset of making jewelry reversible and detachable have also contributed to giving polkis an inimitable refresh, thereby earning her the moniker of the ‘modern meenakar’.

A distinct departure from the normative Indian jeweller stories - the history of the brand was laid by Sunita ji’s vision. A woman led craft endeavour
that started from making and moved to design. The inaugural event of the prestigious Sunita Shekhawat boutique was honoured by the presence of
Sunita Ji and the esteemed Gayatri Devi in Jaipur in 1999.

Exemplifying Tradition and Excellence

Our jewelry exemplifies the finest traditions of Rajasthan's cultural heritage. The hallmark of our creations lies in the exquisite Meenakari work, a centuries-old technique where vibrant enamel colours are delicately fused with 24-karat gold to create intricate patterns and designs. This meticulous process not only requires exceptional skill but also a deep understanding of colour harmony and artistic balance.
